Festival of Trees

A Christmas tree decoration contest and auction with proceeds going to the operation of the D. A. Varnado Store Museum.



Friday, November 24, 2006 (noon – 5 p.m.),
Saturday, November 25, 2006 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.),
Sunday, November 26, 2006, (noon- 5 p.m.)

Sunday. (3:00 p.m.) A fully decorated Christmas tree auction.

The Festival of Trees will be held in the Commercial Building at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds. It is at the same time as the Mile Branch Settlement Pioneer Christmas.

The century-old general store/museum in Washington Parish once again offers an exciting and educational display of memorabilia for the months of October and November,

The Festival of Trees features booths selling all kinds of hand-crafted items, art, food, visits and photos with Santa, live musical entertainment and wreaths. Individuals and clubs decorate Christmas trees to the judged in a contest and auctioned to the highest bidder.

The museum's permanent display gives the visitor a step back in time to browse the pre-1950 general store. In addition special emphasis exhibits in the center of the store are changed each month to highlight topics important to the history of the area and to entice visitors to come back often.
